Meet the Vampire's Daughter

Hi! I'm Persephone Blythe! I'm a vampire who'll be celebrating my 1,000th birthday very soon, but really I'm still a little girl at heart. I am a mysterious Gothic character, which most people seem to think is gloomy and dreadful, but I'm really a kind and generous person. Being a vampire, I'm blessed with many wonderful things, like a really slow aging process, ivory skin, super strength, and a very quick-thinking and smart brain. My fangs grow as I do, which means they will always fit my mouth very nicely, and I don't have to worry about filing or trimming them. I am a very old-fashioned diva, which is why my pictures are in black-and-white. All are portraits taken with my vintage bellows camera.

I live in an old, dark mansion in the ruins of the Underworld. I am the only child of two vampires -- one a lawyer, and the other an architect. If you're wondering how old my parents are, let me just tell you that I don't know and even my parents themselves can't keep track of their age! I attend Midnight Academy, a prestigious school for vampire children like me. I absolutely love my school to death. I am part of my school's swim team, because of my natural vampire flexibility and strength. I'm very sporty and competitive, but I still manage to keep a good spirit of sportsmanship in me. I've competed in five inter-school competitions, six national ones, and one for the Vamp Olympics.

I consider myself quite pretty if I'm wearing the right clothing -- I have a devilishly fantastic sense of fashion (vampires can sometimes unintentionally be a bit conceited -- they're born that way -- so please pardon me if sometimes I am bit vain).

This will be my blog where I will post everything there is to know about my fashionably awesome life in the Underworld. Lately I've been visiting my good friend Marceline the Vampire Queen from the Land of Ooo (and no, she's not really the Vampire Queen; it's just a stage name. She is the lead singer and guitarist of a band named Marceline & The Scream Queens).

As you can see, I'm never caught in broad daylight wearing the same outfit as I did the day before. I like to mix and match my cloths and accessorise to make every outfit unique. Marceline and I went out shopping the other day, and we spotted this dreadfully amazing bow. I'm not the sort of person who wears bows in her hair, but it was so cute, I had to buy it.

Isn't it adorable? Yes, it's probably too big for my head, but maybe it'll fit on one of my one-eyed dogs (more about that later!).

The dress which I am wearing in the above picture is inspired by one of my fashion idols, Wednesday Addams. Most people don't recognise her Gothic prettiness, but she's quite the icon in the Underworld, FYI.

In case you're wondering, I'm a Goth vampire. There are some odd vampires in the Underworld who have a strange love for pink and kittens and cute things. Those are girly vampires, or kitschy vampires, or whatever. Pink makes me utterly sick. I tried a pink dress on once, and here is what it looked like:

My friend Luna (more about her below) insisted that the picture above be taken in full colour using her modern digital camera, because she wanted to show off the "lovely" powder pink (blech!).  I know that most of you think I look cute in pink, but I am truly disgusted by my appearance in that dress, or anything of that colour. I only bought this dress because of the black lace. I'd really prefer to be left out in the blazing sun for another thousand years than be caught in pink.

Most of my clothes in my never-ending closet are usually picked by me, but there are a few pieces of clothing made by a good friend of mine who helps me make some of my clothes.

This is Joliette, my ever-friendly tailor who's always helping me make the most deathly pretty clothes ever. She is a cheerful Goth tailor who once worked in a circus. See her lovely 18th-century dress and powdered hairstyle? There isn't another Lalaloopsy dolly like her anywhere!

Well, before I conclude my first blog post, I'd like to say a big "thank you!" to Luna, my best friend. I met Luna when I was at one of my swim competitions.

We are as different as night and day, but that does not change our never-ending friendship.

It's pretty obvious Luna is not a vampire, and she is obsessed with pink and bunnies. Of course I am grossed out by the clothes I find in her girly wardrobe, but I never say anything and accept her just as she is -- the way a good friend should!

We are like black and white, but Luna always sticks by me, and I stick by her, no matter what.

I need to have my beauty sleep now, so I'll see you at my next blog post!

Forever yours, Persephone Blythe <3
